ZENOLOGY is an expandable plug-in version of the ZEN-Core Synthesis System. ZEN-Core is based on discrete synth voices—each containing a flexible oscillator, filter, amplifier, dual LFOs, and effects. It mixes multiple synthesis types, combining vintage Roland oscillators and filters with PCM waves capable of sync and cross modulation. Layer up to four voices in a single tone for rich, complex sounds, both classic and modern.

The new iteration of the software synth offers four oscillators that give you a total of nine virtual analogue waveforms, including supersaw, noise, PCM, and PCM SYNC in addition to the common analogue waveforms.
Meanwhile, you can layer up to four voices in a single tone with both classic and modern waveforms, while each voice has a flexible oscillator, filter, amplifier, dual LFOs and an equalizer. A total of eleven LFO shapes are available, including tempo-synced X-LFOs with 37 curves per step! Further, ten filter types including JUPITER and other iconic models allow you to bring classic electronic sounds to your patches.
Moreover, you can layer multiple synthesis types together such as advanced virtual analogue and modern PCM, while the soft synth comes with 1840 PCM waveforms. However, the synth is compatible with Sound Packs and Wave Expansions available on Roland Cloud, so you can expand your selection of PCM waveforms to over 7000. Additionally, ZENOLOGY offers over 4000 waveforms in total and 200 drum kits, and you can expand your selection to over 10,000 total selections.
Easily navigate through your patches and waveforms with the advanced browser and explore sounds, mark your favorites, and create your own sound banks. Furthermore, edit and share your sounds between ZENOLOGY and ZEN-Core hardware such as FANTOM, JUPITER-X, JUNO-X, RD-88, and more while utilizing the smooth workflow of ZENOLOGY 2.0 in its resizable interface.
Finally, you’ll have access to over 90 Roland effects including reverbs, JUNO-106 and CE-1 choruses, SDD-320 Dimension D, and DJ-FX Looper!
