Yamaha BB P34 MK II Pro Series Bass Guitar

Made in Japan, this is the ultimate BB, featuring alder/maple/alder construction treated with our unique I.R.A. technology, a 6-bolt miter neck joint and a diagonally strung convertible bridge.

The Yamaha BBP34 MK II (often referred to as the BBP34II) is the professional-tier, made-in-Japan flagship of the Broadbass (BB) series. It features high-end custom hardware and specialized wood treatments that distinguish it from the standard 400 or 700 series models
Key Upgrades & MK II Differences
While maintaining the core design of the original BBP34, the MK II includes several specific refinements
  • Hardware Finish: The hardware—including the bridge and tuners—has been updated to a Chrome finish. The original models featured a brushed aluminium/satin look.
  • Updated Controls: The volume and tone knobs are now chrome, replacing the previous plastic-style knobs for a more premium feel.
  • Expanded Color Options: New finishes were introduced with the MK II, including Moonlight Blue and Vintage White, alongside an updated, slightly darker Vintage Sunburst
Technical Specifications
  • Body Construction: A multi-laminated “sandwich” of Alder/Maple/Alder. The hard maple center increases body stiffness and accentuates midrange to help the bass cut through a band mix.
  • I.R.A. Treatment: Yamaha’s Initial Response Acceleration technology applies specific vibrations to the completed instrument to release stresses between wood and finish, resulting in a “played-in” sound and enhanced resonance from day one.
  • Neck Design: A stable 5-piece Maple/Mahogany neck with a thinner profile for improved playability.
  • 6-Bolt Miter Joint: Uses two slanted screws to pull the neck deeper and tighter into the body pocket, providing superior vibration transfer and stability compared to standard bolt-on joints.
  • Pickups: Equipped with passive YGD Custom V7 Alnico V pickups in a P/J configuration (split-coil neck and single-coil bridge).
  • Bridge: The Vintage Plus bridge allows for either standard top-loading or 45-degree through-body stringing, which reduces string stress while improving sustain.
